Mechanical Shift Engineer – Central London

Location: SW1P, London
Salary: £46,500 + £2,700 Shift Allowance + Overtime
Shift Pattern: 6:30am–6:30pm – 5 on / 4 off, 5 on / 5 off, 4 on / 5 off

A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to join an established facilities management team working at a prestigious and well-known cultural and heritage site in Central London.

You will become part of an onsite team of six engineers, responsible for planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across the building. This is a varied building services environment, offering exposure to AHUs, FCUs, humidifiers, cooling towers and pumps.

Initially, you will work Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm to get fully up to speed with the site, equipment and procedures before moving onto the full 12-hour shift pattern. The successful engineer will be required to work alone during night shifts, so confidence and the ability to manage reactive issues independently are important.

Key Responsibilities:

Planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance

*

Mechanical fault finding and repairs

*

Maintenance of AHUs and FCUs

*

HVAC maintenance and fault finding

*

Working with pumps and cooling towers

*

Maintenance of humidification systems

*

Completing scheduled PPMs

*

Responding to reactive maintenance issues

*

Maintaining site records and documentation

*

Working safely and independently on night shifts

Requirements:

*

Level 2 qualification or higher in Plumbing, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

*

Commercial facilities maintenance experience

*

Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills

*

HVAC experience advantageous

*

Experience with AHUs, FCUs, pumps or cooling systems beneficial

*

Comfortable with lone working

*

Good understanding of health and safety
