Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Design Engineer to join their growing design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of engineered systems within a highly collaborative environment, supporting both new product development and ongoing product improvements.
The Role
You will play a key role in the design and development of complex mechanical and fluid systems, contributing to the successful delivery of engineering projects from concept through to production.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and developing engineered systems including fuel, freshwater, HVAC, fire protection, hydraulics, and Propulsion Producing detailed production-level drawings, including system schematics, specifications, and installation documentation Creating mould construction and installation drawings Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and model year upgrade projects Collaborating with designers, external contractors, and naval architects to optimise design and manufacturing efficiency Ensuring all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and classifications Working closely with production teams to resolve design queries and support manufacturing processes Participating in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) reviews and testing activities Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering within required timeframes Occasional travel between design and manufacturing sitesKey Requirements
Previous systems or engineering design experience (essential) Ability to use 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred or similar) Strong understanding of materials, bill of materials (BOMs), and engineering design standards Experience working with PLM systems (desirable) Knowledge of marine or similar complex engineering systems (desirable) Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable) Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamAbout You
