Mechanical Technician - Training offered

We are looking for a practical and hands-on Mechanical Technician to join a growing team to ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

The role will have a particular focus on the service, maintenance and repair of scissor lift platforms, as well as supporting the wider maintenance of production machinery and equipment.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in mechanics and fixing things. A formal mechanical qualification is not essential – we're looking for someone with good practical ability, a willingness to learn and the confidence to investigate problems and find solutions. Experience with basic electrical or electronic systems would also be advantageous.

The role works Monday to Friday, 40 hour per week, 6am-3pm.

Due to the rural location, you need access to your own vehicle.

Key responsibilities of Mechanical Technician include:

* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and inspections of scissor lift platforms and other equipment.

* Complete planned preventative maintenance to keep equipment safe, reliable and fit for purpose.

* Diagnose faults and carry out or assist with mechanical repairs.

* Identify worn, damaged or faulty components and replace consumable and replacement parts as required.

* Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work effectively to minimise downtime and disruption to production.

* Carry out routine checks and inspections and ensure equipment is maintained to the required standards.

* Assist with basic electrical and electronic fault-finding where appropriate.

* Keep accurate records of maintenance, inspections, repairs and parts used.

* Work closely with production teams to understand equipment issues and identify ways to improve reliability and performance.

* Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults and opportunities to improve equipment.

* Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.

You don't need to have formal qualifications to be successful in this role. We're particularly interested in people who have:

* A practical, hands-on approach and a genuine interest in mechanics and machinery.

* The ability to diagnose problems, identify faults and work out practical solutions.

* Good mechanical aptitude and an ability to use basic tools and equipment safely.

* Some experience of repairing, servicing or maintaining machinery or mechanical equipment would be beneficial.

* An understanding of, or interest in, electrical/electronic systems would be an advantage.

* The ability to work independently, use your own initiative and know when to ask for support.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business.

* A flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

* The ability to remain calm and work effectively when responding to equipment breakdowns or other urgent issues.

* The ability to read, understand and follow instructions, maintenance procedures and safety requirements.
