Mental Health Assistant / Teaching Assistant - Reading

Aspiring Educational Psychologist Opportunity

Ideal for Psychology / Counselling / Criminology Graduates
ASAP Start | Primary Phase | £85-£100 per day

Are you passionate about supporting children with mental health needs?
Would you love the opportunity to work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists while gaining valuable SEN experience?

An outstanding specialist school in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant / Teaching Assistant to support children aged 4-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex behaviours.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduate (or a candidate with relevant experience) who is keen to build hands-on experience in a specialist setting - perfect for an aspiring educational psychologist, therapeutic support worker, or SEN teacher.

About the Role:

Mental Health Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant

Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm)

ASAP start

Working closely with pupils with SEMH and complex needs

Collaborating with on-site psychologists, therapists, and specialist teachers

Supporting pupils both in class and through targeted interventions

Gaining invaluable experience shadowing therapy sessions and interventions

The Ideal Candidate:

A graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology (other related subjects considered)
Level 3 qualifications or above preferred
Confident, resilient, proactive, and able to use initiative
Open-minded, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young people
Previous experience working with children, young people or adults with SEN/SEMH (personal or professional) is desirable but not essential
