Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Mental Health, Therapy, Social Work or Teaching?
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to join a highly specialist therapeutic school and residential setting supporting children aged 5-13 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will work alongside experienced therapists, teachers and therapeutic practitioners to support children who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties and significant emotional challenges. You will have the opportunity to work within either the education provision or residential provision, helping young people develop emotional regulation, positive relationships and confidence.
The successful Mental Health Assistant will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment where every child can thrive. This setting is renowned for its therapeutic approach, reflective practice and outstanding outcomes for vulnerable young people.
The Role:
Supporting children with SEMH needs, trauma and attachment difficulties Working as a Mental Health Assistant within either the classroom or residential environment Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils Helping children regulate emotions and manage behaviours Supporting learning, play-based activities and therapeutic interventions Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of education, care and therapy professionals
Ideal Candidate:
Psychology Graduate or graduate from a related subject Aspiring Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Therapist or Mental Health Practitioner Passionate about supporting vulnerable children Resilient, empathetic and emotionally intelligent Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
