Because when you care for others, you deserve to feel valued too!
At Northern Healthcare, you'll do more than provide support – you'll help people rebuild confidence, develop independence and work towards a brighter future.
We're looking for compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Support Workers to join our team at Mary Seacole House in Bolton, supporting people with mental health needs on their individual recovery journeys.
Whether you're already experienced in care or looking to take your first steps into the sector, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
You don't need to have all the answers. What matters most is your attitude, your willingness to learn and your genuine desire to make a positive difference.
No two days are the same! You'll work alongside a dedicated team to provide person-centred support that helps individuals live fulfilling, meaningful and independent lives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Promoting independence: Supporting people to develop everyday living skills and build confidence in their abilities.
Supporting daily routines: Helping with cooking, meal preparation, budgeting, household tasks and personal organisation.
Encouraging healthy lifestyles: Supporting individuals to manage appointments, medication and their general wellbeing in line with care plans and training.
Building connections: Helping people access community activities, education, employment opportunities and social experiences.
Providing emotional support: Listening without judgement, offering reassurance and helping individuals work through challenges.
Supporting recovery: Encouraging people to achieve their personal goals, celebrate progress and take positive steps towards greater independence.
Working together: Communicating effectively with colleagues and maintaining accurate records to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
As our services develop, there may also be occasions when personal care support is required. Full training, guidance and support will be provided where necessary.
The most rewarding part of the role? Seeing someone grow in confidence, achieve something they once found difficult or take another step towards living the life they want.
You don't need years of experience to make a difference. We believe the right values, attitude and commitment to learning are just as important as previous experience.
We'll help you build the knowledge and confidence you need through a structured training and development programme, including:
Structured company induction
Dedicated buddy support to help you settle into your role
Access to our online learning platform
Care Certificate training
First Aid training
Behaviour support training
Funded NVQ qualifications, Levels 2–5, subject to eligibility and availability
Ongoing professional development and leadership training
We'll support you to develop your skills, grow in confidence and explore where a career with Northern Healthcare could take you.
Joining us as a Mental Health Support Worker can be the start of a long and rewarding career.
As you gain experience and develop your skills, you could explore opportunities such as:
Team Leader
Deputy Service Manager
Service Manager
Specialist Support Worker Champion roles
And if your passion is providing direct support to the people we work with, we'll encourage you to continue developing your expertise and making a difference in your role.
We want our colleagues to feel supported, appreciated and rewarded for the work they do.
When you join Northern Healthcare, you can benefit from:
Free parking at most services

Employee Assistance Programme, including wellbeing support, counselling and physiotherapy

We're more interested in who you are and how you treat people than simply what's written on your CV.
We're looking for people who are:
Caring, compassionate and committed to putting people first.
Patient, understanding and able to listen without judgement.
Positive, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.
Good communicators who can build trusting relationships.
Resilient and able to remain calm when situations become challenging.
Passionate about helping others achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life.
Previous experience in care, mental health support or a related role is desirable, as is a Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification. Experience supporting a family member, friend or individual with additional needs is also welcomed.
You'll need to be able to provide two satisfactory references covering the last three years and successfully complete the required Enhanced DBS checks. Northern Healthcare will cover the cost of the Enhanced DBS check.
