Mental Health Teaching Assistant Location: Corby, Northamptonshire Start Date: ASAP | Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent
Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing? Are you looking to start a rewarding school-based role immediately, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position?
We are working in partnership with schools across Corby who are seeking dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistants to join their teams as soon as possible. These full-time, temporary to permanent roles involve supporting students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within inclusive, nurturing educational environments where wellbeing and pastoral care are a key priority.
About the Role:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils experiencing anxiety, low mood, behavioural challenges, trauma-related needs, or difficulties with emotional regulation
Support students in developing resilience, confidence, emotional literacy, and positive coping strategies
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leads, and safeguarding teams to implement and review tailored support plans
Assist in delivering targeted interventions and wellbeing programmes within the school setting
Promote a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment throughout the school day, including during unstructured times
Monitor, record, and report on student progress in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures
Contribute to a whole-school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing
We're Looking For:
Experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, or mental health needs in schools, youth work, care, or similar settings
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school support team
A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Relevant qualifications or training in mental health, psychology, youth work, education, or a related field (desirable but not essential)
