An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced MEP Design Manager to join one of the UK's leading Building Services Contractors, delivering high-profile projects across London and the South East.
Working as part of a well-established technical team, you'll play a key role in managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring mechanical and electrical designs are fully coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.
The Role
Manage the MEP design process from tender stage through to construction and handover. Coordinate mechanical, electrical and public health design teams to ensure fully integrated building services solutions. Review consultant designs for buildability, compliance and value engineering opportunities. Lead design workshops, coordination meetings and technical reviews with clients, consultants and subcontractors. Ensure design information is issued in line with project programmes. Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams and Site Managers throughout the construction phase. Manage RFIs, technical submissions, design changes and approval processes. Coordinate BIM and clash detection activities with internal and external design teams. Support procurement by reviewing technical specifications and subcontractor proposals. Assist commissioning teams to ensure designs are fully coordinated through to project completion.
Requirements
Previous experience as an MEP Design Manager or Building Services Design Manager Strong mechanical and electrical building services knowledge.
Good understanding of BIM, design coordination and construction methodologies. Ability to manage consultant teams and multiple stakeholders. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering preferred.
