My client is a global non-ferrous scrap and recycled metals trading company.
As they continue to expand their operations and strengthen their market presence globally they are looking for a proactive and skilled Shipping and Logistics Coordinator to be based in their London office. This role will be pivotal in enhancing their logistics operations and supporting their team in Asia.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipping and Logistics Co-ordinator will oversee all aspects of logistics and shipping ensuring effective management of shipments and compliance with global shipping regulations. The role involves efficient oversight of transportation routes, optimisation of shipping processes, and collaboration with our Asia team to streamline operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and coordinate all logistics activities relating to sea and inland transportation of scrap metals between suppliers and customers. Arrange shipments and deliveries of scrap metal from a variety of locations in USA and Europe worldwide. Monitor the status of different cargos whilst the goods are in transit. Liaise closely with the Asia logistics team to ensure seamless operations and documentation handling. Optimise transportation routes and methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times. Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and standards across all operations. Address logistical challenges and resolve any issues that arise to prevent disruptions in the supply chain. Develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with European suppliers and suppliers in USA. Process invoices and handle administrative aspects of all transactions. Input shipping data into systems Liaise on the telephone and e-mail with customers, warehouses and freight forwarders. General administration support and ad hoc duties when required.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven experience in logistics or shipping management, preferably in the metals or recycling industry. Strong understanding of global logistics and shipping practices, including regulatory compliance. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Attention to detail and being accurate, numerate and precise. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. No specific degree required; however, a demonstrated track record in logistics management is crucial. GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English. Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks as and when needed. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team with good attitude.
