Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Methane Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and guidance on methane emissions management within BP Exp Op Co Ltd. This role will be critical in driving our environmental performance and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

Job Responsibilities

* Provide expert technical advice and support on all aspects of methane emissions, including measurement, reporting, mitigation, and abatement strategies.
* Lead the development and implementation of methane reduction programs and initiatives, incorporating Agility core practices for efficient delivery.
* Ensure BP's operations adhere to all relevant Environmental Legal Compliance requirements pertaining to methane and broader Air Quality Management.
* Conduct Environment and Social Impact assessments related to methane, and collaborate with the Environment and Social Group R to integrate findings into business decisions.
* Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on methane management, fostering Sustainability Awareness across the organization.
* Contribute to Biodiversity Management strategies by assessing and mitigating the impact of methane emissions on ecosystems.
* Act as a key technical resource during Crisis and emergency response situations involving methane releases.
* Influence internal and external partners to drive best practices in methane management and advocate for effective Life cycle and circularity approaches.
* Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in methane reduction to ensure BP remains at the forefront of sustainable practices.
* Champion Continuous Learning within the team and across the organization regarding methane and environmental best practices.
* Effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.

Job Qualifications

* Proven expertise and deep technical knowledge in Methane emissions, including measurement methodologies, abatement technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong understanding of Environmental management principles and their application within an operational context.
* Demonstrable experience with Environmental Legal Compliance, specifically related to air quality and greenhouse gas emissions.
* Experience in conducting or contributing to Environment and Social Impact assessments.
* Familiarity with Air Quality Management principles and practices.
* Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at various levels and drive change.
* Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences.
* A strong commitment to Sustainability Awareness and a passion for environmental protection.
* Experience in applying Agility core practices to project management or program delivery.
* Understanding of Life cycle and circularity concepts as they apply to industrial operations.
* Knowledge of Crisis and emergency response protocols related to environmental incidents.
* A proactive approach to Continuous Learning and professional development.
* Awareness of Biodiversity Management principles and their relevance to industrial activities.
