About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Method Development Chemist to join a leading organisation within the materials science and polymer sector. Working as part of a specialist analytical team, you will be responsible for developing, optimising and validating analytical methodologies that support research, product development, manufacturing and technical projects across a global business. This role would suit an analytical scientist with strong method development experience who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with advanced instrumentation and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll have the opportunity to influence analytical best practice, improve existing methodologies and contribute to the long-term development of the analytical function.
What You'll Be Doing
Develop, optimise and validate analytical methods for a variety of materials and products. Support innovation, technical and application teams with robust analytical solutions. Ensure analytical methods meet quality and validation requirements. Train laboratory colleagues on newly developed methodologies. Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and compliance. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to harmonise analytical approaches across functions. Communicate technical findings and project updates to key stakeholders. Support the maintenance, calibration and performance of analytical instrumentation. Drive continuous improvement activities across laboratory processes and methodologies.
What We're Looking For
Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline. Industrial experience in analytical method development and validation. Hands-on experience with GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC and GC instrumentation. Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting analytical equipment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
Polymer characterisation techniques. FT-IR, GPC and rheological testing methods. Thermal desorption, SPME and other specialist sample preparation techniques. Working within an ISO 17025 environment. Knowledge of polymer structure-property relationships. Experience applying DoE and Lean methodologies.
