Midweight Designer

Role Overview 

Mammoth is a brand consultancy and creative transformation agency. We find clarity in complexity and help our clients define and design their future selves. Across four key sectors (Education, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Environment & Sustainability, and Data & Technology), we connect intelligence, positioning, narrative, visual identity and experience to create internal culture and external momentum for the organisations we work with. 

We’re looking for a thoughtful, confident Midweight Designer to develop ideas and take ownership of day-to-day design delivery. You’ll turn creative direction into well-crafted brand, campaign, digital and print work, working independently on agreed tasks with guidance from senior designers and creative leads. You’ll bring strong ideas, sound judgement and growing confidence in presenting your work.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop concepts and visual routes that respond to the brief, brand strategy and audience. 

• Own smaller projects and defined parts of larger projects, from initial exploration through to delivery, with agreed senior review points. 

• Build and apply brand identities across typography, colour, imagery, layout and graphic systems. 

• Create clear presentations and explain your design decisions to colleagues and clients. 

• Develop brand guidelines and practical templates that others can use consistently. 

• Work with strategy, client services, motion, digital and finished art teams to carry ideas across different formats. 

• Manage your workload against agreed timings and budgets, flagging unclear briefs, competing priorities and risks early. 

• Prepare organised files and accurate handovers, checking detail and production requirements before work moves on. 

• Act on feedback, contribute to design reviews and share practical knowledge with junior designers. 
  

Skills and Qualifications 

• Typically
  2–4 years of professional design experience, with a portfolio showing strong ideas and considered execution. 

• A confident understanding of typography, hierarchy, composition and brand identity systems. 

• Strong working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, with the ability to prepare work for print and digital use. 

• Ability to develop a brief beyond the first idea and carry an agreed direction across multiple applications. 

• Clear communication and presentation skills, with confidence to ask questions and explain your thinking. 

• An organised, proactive approach and the judgement to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance.

Bonus Points 

• Experience with Figma and digital design systems. 

• Motion design, animation or an interest in how brands behave on screen. 

• An interest in brand strategy, storytelling and work across Mammoth’s key sectors.
