Mobile Plant Operator – Waste Transfer and Recycling

Location: On-site – Brent, NW10 7TJ

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (36 hours/week across a 7-day rota, including weekends – weekend allowance applicable)

Salary: £33,295 – £34,882 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting)

West London Waste Authority (WLWA) is hiring experienced and reliable Mobile Plant Operators to join our operations team at the busy Abbey Road Waste Transfer Station in Brent. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your machinery skills and make a direct impact in reducing landfill and improving recycling across the capital.

You will be working on the ground with plant equipment such as loading shovels, RoRo shunters, and 360 material handlers to ensure waste is handled efficiently, safely, and in line with environmental goals.

  Operate a variety of mobile plant and machinery (training provided if needed)

  Load and compact waste in containers, ensuring maximum permitted weights

  
  


• 
  

  Sort and separate recyclable materials to maximise recovery

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with traffic control and weighbridge operations when required

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain site cleanliness, including litter picking, sweeping and general upkeep

  
  


• 
  

  Follow all site safety policies and procedures, including correct PPE use

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate closely with traffic controllers and the wider site team

  
  

We’re looking for team players with solid experience operating plant equipment in a waste, construction or industrial setting. You’ll need to be physically fit, safety-conscious, and willing to work outdoors in all weathers as part of a 7-day rota.
