MOT Tester

Pay Rate: £23.00 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent – 12 weeks
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Working Hours: 7:00am – 4:45pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 rest day each week
Weekends: No weekend working

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a qualified MOT Tester to join a busy and professional vehicle testing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out Taxi Compliance Tests in lieu of MOTs, ensuring Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicles meet the required safety, licensing and council standards.

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, with the potential to secure a permanent position following a successful 12-week temporary period.

You will play an important role in maintaining public safety by ensuring vehicles are inspected thoroughly and comply with the relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct taxi compliance tests to the required standards.

* Inspect Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicles.

* Carry out thorough mechanical and safety inspections.

* Identify and report mechanical faults and compliance issues.

* Ensure all testing documentation and records are completed accurately.

* Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

* Work efficiently within a busy, fast-paced workshop environment.

* Follow all relevant safety procedures, testing standards and council requirements.

* Work independently while contributing effectively as part of a professional team.

Requirements

* Valid MOT Tester qualification – Class 3 minimum.

* Previous experience in vehicle testing, MOT testing or mechanical inspection.

* Strong knowledge of vehicle safety standards and compliance requirements.

* Excellent attention to detail.

* Good record-keeping and administrative skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach.
