Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) – Hertfordshire – Permanent – £39,000 to £43,000 - 6am to 2pm
We are working on the behalf of a contract manufacturing company who are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a mechanical bias.
The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to equipment breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance, supporting machine improvements and modifications, and applying a broad range of mechanical, electrical and workshop skills. Flexibility, teamwork and a strong continuous improvement mindset are essential to the role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Attend breakdowns and carry out running repairs on filling and packaging lines to minimise operational downtime.
* Accurately diagnose downtime issues and ensure all faults are appropriately recorded and logged.
* Facilitate the purchase of parts and components required for maintenance and repair activities.
* Complete preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturing schedules.
* Support and train operators in line-setting activities where required.
* Manufacture change parts and carry out modifications and developments to machines and equipment as directed by the Project Manager or appointed person.
* Overhaul and repair plant, machinery and services as required.
* Apply multi-skilled engineering practices across mechanical, electrical and workshop disciplines, within the required level of competence.
* Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and company standards.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and warehouse operations.
* Work collaboratively with the wider engineering team and other departments to maintain effective operations.
* Provide flexibility and support across warehouse activities as required.
* Be prepared to work various shift patterns and a reasonable amount of overtime where necessary to provide operational cover.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Relevant Engineering qualification, preferably with a Mechanical Engineering bias.
* Previous experience within a GMP manufacturing environment is desirable.
* Experience within food manufacturing or a similar production environment is advantageous.
* Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* Practical experience across mechanical, electrical and workshop disciplines is desirable.
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to learn quickly and develop new technical skills.
