Multi Skilled Maintenance Co-ordinator
£21.51 per hour
Monday to Thursday, 6:00am to 4:15pm

We are seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Co-ordinator to lead a small team of maintenance fitters and ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site equipment and facilities. This hands-on role is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, minimising downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate maintenance staff and subcontractors to ensure efficient completion of maintenance activities
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and maintain accurate maintenance and breakdown records
- Monitor and manage stock levels using maintenance usage records
- Coordinate prompt breakdown repairs, both during and outside normal working hours, using internal and external resources as required
- Inspect buildings, machinery, and equipment, identifying and resolving issues before they impact production
- Report maintenance concerns and recommendations to the Production Manager
- Operate manual milling machines, lathes, and grinders
- Maintain tooling and jigs, ensuring all work and revisions are accurately documented
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and implement effective long-term solutions
- Support factory improvement projects in collaboration with the Production Manager
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships to optimise factory performance and operational efficiency
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance activities that prevent pollution and minimise environmental impact
- Ensure the safe storage, handling, and disposal of oils, lubricants, and chemicals
- Follow spill prevention procedures and emergency response processes
- Maintain environmental control equipment in safe working condition
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact across the site
- Suspend activities that present an immediate environmental risk until suitable controls are implemented
Requirements:
- Time-served engineer with a minimum of two years' experience within a manufacturing environment
- City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities and supporting operational performance
- Strong fault-finding, repair, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Six Sigma experience or understanding would be advantageous
