We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a Mechanical Bias to join a professional Facilities Management team supporting a busy healthcare environment in Warwick.
⚙️ This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience and a good understanding of wider building services.
🏥 Working within a healthcare environment, you will play an important role in ensuring essential mechanical and building services remain safe, compliant, reliable and fully operational.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs across a range of mechanical and M&E systems.
You will work alongside an experienced Electrical-Bias Engineer, supporting the wider engineering team and ensuring the site receives a high standard of maintenance and service.
🔧 Responsibilities & Duties
• 🛠️ Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• ⚙️ Maintain, inspect and repair a range of mechanical building services, plant and equipment.
• 🔍 Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake effective repairs to minimise downtime and disruption.
• 🧠 Carry out detailed fault finding, troubleshooting and practical problem-solving.
• 📋 Complete planned maintenance tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules, SFG20 requirements and site procedures.
• 🚨 Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns, defects and maintenance requests.
• 💧 Maintain and repair pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical equipment.
• 🌡️ Support the maintenance of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems and wider mechanical building services.
• 🔥 Maintain and support heating, hot water, boilers, calorifiers and associated systems where required.
• 🔩 Inspect mechanical plant and equipment and identify potential defects, failures or maintenance requirements.
• 📅 Ensure PPM tasks are completed within agreed timescales and to the required quality and compliance standards.
• 🦺 Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, site requirements and safe systems of work.
• 📑 Follow relevant RAMS, permits, risk assessments and safe working procedures.
• 💻 Complete accurate maintenance records, job sheets and technical documentation.
• 📊 Update and maintain records on the CAFM system following completion of maintenance activities.
• 🤝 Work closely with other engineers, specialist contractors and site personnel to support effective maintenance delivery.
• 🔎 Assist with statutory inspections, compliance activities and engineering audits where required.
• 🧰 Ensure tools, equipment, materials and spare parts are used appropriately and maintained in good condition.
• 📈 Support the identification of recurring faults and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance performance.
• 💬 Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when interacting with hospital staff, contractors and stakeholders.
• 🎓 Maintain and develop technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
👨🔧 Requirements
• ⚙️ Proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Multi-Skilled Engineer or in a similar maintenance role.
• 🔧 Strong practical mechanical maintenance experience within Facilities Management, Building Services, Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial or a similar environment.
• 🛠️ Proven experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
• 🔍 Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• ⚙️ Practical experience maintaining mechanical building services, plant and associated equipment.
• 🔩 Experience working with pumps, motors, valves and mechanical equipment.
• 🌡️ Experience with HVAC, heating and ventilation systems would be highly beneficial.
• 🔥 Knowledge and practical experience of heating, hot water, boilers, calorifiers and associated mechanical services.
• 🎓 Relevant technical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, apprenticeship or equivalent.
• 🦺 Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an engineering and maintenance environment.
• 📑 Knowledge of RAMS, risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work.
• 📋 Good understanding of statutory compliance and maintenance requirements.
• 💻 Ability to complete maintenance records and technical documentation accurately.
• 🖥️ Basic IT skills and experience using CAFM or computerised maintenance management systems.
• 💬 Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• 🤝 Professional and customer-focused approach.
• 🧠 Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider engineering team.
• 🔎 Calm and methodical approach to fault finding and reactive maintenance.
• 🚨 Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to urgent maintenance requirements.
⭐ Desirable Experience
• 🏥 Previous experience working within NHS, private healthcare or another high-compliance environment.
• 🏢 Experience within Facilities Management or commercial building services.
• 🌡️ Experience maintaining HVAC, heating and ventilation systems.
• 💧 Experience with pumps, motors, valves, pressurisation systems and mechanical plant.
• 🔥 Experience with boilers, calorifiers, hot water systems and associated mechanical services.
• 📖 Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards.
• ⚙️ Experience working with critical building services and essential site infrastructure.
• 💻 Experience using CAFM systems.
• 🎓 Additional mechanical engineering or building services qualifications.
• 🤝 Experience working alongside specialist contractors, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines.
• ⚡ An understanding of electrical building services would be advantageous, although the primary requirement is a strong mechanical bias.
