Are you a passionate and creative Music Teacher looking to inspire the next generation of performers and composers? A thriving secondary school in Southend is seeking a dedicated music specialist to join their team from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role is perfect for Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners alike who are eager to make music education engaging, inclusive, and meaningful.

You’ll lead engaging lessons that nurture musical skill, creativity, and confidence, with opportunities to support performances, choirs, and extra-curricular ensembles. The department benefits from excellent facilities and a school community that celebrates the arts. Whether your focus is classical, contemporary, or somewhere in between, your passion for music will be welcomed and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver inspiring Music lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Encourage students to explore performance, composition, and music theory.
  • Support and lead extra-curricular activities such as choirs, bands, or music clubs.
  • Prepare students for concerts, exams, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into the wider school culture.
  • Track progress and provide effective feedback to students.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS and a degree in Music or a related subject (essential).
  • Open to Early Career Teachers and experienced teachers.
  • Strong musical ability in one or more instruments or vocal performance.
  • Confident in using music technology and composition tools.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Passion for creative arts and student expression.
