Are you a passionate and creative Music Teacher ready to inspire students through the power of performance, composition, and musical expression? A well-regarded secondary school in Colchester is seeking a talented teacher to join their music department from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role is perfect for both Early Career Teachers and experienced educators who are eager to make a lasting impact.

 

You’ll deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, contribute to the school’s vibrant music programme, and support students in building their skills and confidence. With excellent facilities and a leadership team that values the arts, you’ll be joining a school where music is an integral part of the curriculum and wider school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver inspiring Music lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support student progress in performance, composition, and listening skills.
  • Lead or contribute to extra-curricular activities such as choirs, ensembles, or music clubs.
  • Prepare students for concerts, assessments, and school productions.
  • Promote a classroom environment that celebrates creativity and collaboration.
  • Participate in curriculum planning and whole-school events.
  • Engage with students of all abilities in a positive and inclusive way.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS and a degree in Music or a related subject (essential).
  • Open to Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners.
  • Strong musical ability in performance or composition (or both).
  • Confident in using music technology and teaching practical music.
  • A passion for music education and engaging all learners.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
