National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8 Full)
Location: Walpole 400kV Substation, Walpole Bank, Walpole, PE14 7JE
Start Date: 27th July 2026 - Minimum 5 months length
Hours: 07:30am - 5:30pm
Weekend work may be available.

We're currently looking for an experienced National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8 Full) to join a major 400kV substation project at Walpole.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term transmission project working alongside an experienced site team on essential civil engineering works within a live National Grid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accept safety documents from the National Grid SAP
Work under National Grid procedures and ensure full compliance with site rules
Supervise and control works safely within your designated work area
Follow and manage F1 routes in accordance with National Grid requirements
Oversee civil works including:
Draw pit construction
Excavation works
HV duct installation
Shuttering and concrete pouring for gas trolley paths
Ensure all works are completed safely and to the required quality standardsRequirements:

National Grid Competent Person - NSI 6 & 8 Full (Essential)
Previous experience working on live National Grid substations
Strong understanding of National Grid safety procedures and documentation
Experience overseeing civil engineering activities within substations
