Job Description - Network DevOps Specialist

DRW is a diversified trading firm with over 3 decades of experience bringing sophisticated technology and exceptional people together to operate in markets around the world. We value autonomy and the ability to quickly pivot to capture opportunities, so we operate using our own capital and trading at our own risk.

Headquartered in Chicago with offices throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, we trade a variety of asset classes including Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities and Energy across all major global markets. We have also leveraged our expertise and technology to expand into three non-traditional strategies: real estate, venture capital, and crypto assets.

We operate with respect, curiosity, and open minds. The people who thrive here share our belief that it’s not just what we do that matters–it's how we do it. DRW is a place of high expectations, integrity, innovation, and a willingness to challenge consensus.

 Objectives of this role:

  • Be a force for automation within the low latency network team at DRW

  • Bring Devops best practices to the Low latency network team

  • Automate software release processes for software and new hardware

  • Build CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, manage infrastructure as code, and optimize network engineering workflows

  • Become the SME for our virtualized and containerized/cloud deployments

  • Own the single source of truth and its network data models

  • Design, prototype and bring to production any framework required to achieve your mandate

 Day to Day responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for network configurations and changes (repo, test, validate, deploy).

  • Collaborate with Network Engineering team to standardize network designs, device catalogs, and topology models (e.g., NetBox, IPAM).

  • Develop automation for day-to-day network tasks (device onboarding, upgrades, backups, policy enforcement) and self-service capabilities for internal teams.

  • Advocate and work with the operations team on best practices around automation

  • Support all of our VM, cloud and bare metal deployments

  • Own our automation backlog to identify and automate repetitive tasks

  • Ensure security and compliance in automation pipelines (RBAC, secrets management, least privilege, audit logging, change control).

  • Create automated tests, dry-runs, and validation steps to prevent unintended changes (linting, pre-change checks, anomaly detection).

  • Maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and documentation for network automation and procedures.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation

  • Support scheduled after-hours maintenance

  Required skills and qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a DevOps, NetDevOps or as a site reliability engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Devops certified with at least one of the following providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, DCA, CKA, Red Hat, LFCS or Cisco Devnet

  • Proficiency in Python (or another scripting language) for automation and tooling.

  • Strong Linux system administration skills

  • Proficiency with git, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI

  • Strong experience in configuration management/automation (Ansible or similar) or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.

  • Experience with Virtualization / Hypervisors: Proxmox , VMware

  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift
