Job purpose

We are seeking a skilled Cisco network engineer to perform a firewall rule review and remediation project. The engineer will amend the rule set on the Cisco firewall to remediate network-related security audit findings coordinating with group security and audit functions.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Review, analyse, modify firewall rules in accordance with security findings and group internal audit findings
• Perform firewall policy reviews to identify redundant, obsolete, or overly permissive rules.
• Conduct impact assessments and risk analysis before implementing firewall changes.
• Document firewall changes for BAU team
• Participate in change management processes and ensure compliance with organisational standards.

Success Criteria

1. Group Internal Audit findings are closed in agreed timeframe
2. Internal monitoring capability is enhanced to enable the in-sourcing of outsourced 24x7 network managed service contract
3. Additional network-related security audit findings are closed in agreed timeframe.

Other tasks at the discretion of the Head of IT Security.

Out of hours work will be required for changes that are agreed to be made out of hours.
