Are you an ambitious Audit & Accounts Senior looking for clear career progression, direct mentoring towards management, and a supportive regional firm covering Derbyshire and South Yorkshire? Our client is a dynamic, growing accountancy practice seeking an experienced ACA/ACCA qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE) professional to join their expanding team in the Chesterfield area. Offering a varied split across audit assignments, financial accounting, and tax, this opportunity provides the ideal platform to build your management capabilities in a modern practice environment.


 


The Opportunity


In this key fee-earning role, you will take lead responsibility for conducting on-site and remote audit fieldwork while managing company accounts preparation and tax compliance for a diverse client base. Working alongside experienced Directors, you will gain hands-on involvement in planning, budgeting, and delivering high-quality client work across commercial sectors, healthcare, and non-profit entities. As the practice continues to grow, this role offers a structured pathway to step up into an Assistant Manager or Manager position.


 


Key Responsibilities & Requirements




  • Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified (or Qualified by Experience - QBE) with 3+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience including leading statutory audits.




  • Audit Leadership: Hands-on experience leading client audits from planning through to fieldwork execution and completion, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and ISAs. (Experience with care home or specialist audits is advantageous but not essential.)




  • Accounts & Tax Compliance: Strong technical ability in preparing complex company statutory financial statements, corporate tax computations, and management accounts.




  • Team Mentoring: Experience delegating tasks, reviewing junior staff members' work, and providing coaching on fieldwork assignments to promote team development.




  • Commercial & Technical Skills: High attention to detail, strong budget and time management skills, and proficiency with practice accounting and audit software.

  • Competitive Remuneration: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on qualification status and practice experience, aligned with regional market rates).
