Audit Assistant Manager

Location: Blackburn Area

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000+ DOE

Our client is a highly regarded, forward-thinking accountancy firm based in the Blackburn area. Known for their collaborative environment, strong regional presence, and commitment to staff development, they are looking for an ambitious audit professional to play a central role in their growing assurance team.

The Opportunity

In this key step-up role, you will work closely with Audit Managers and Responsible Individuals (RIs), taking direct responsibility for managing audit assignments from initial planning through to completion. Serving as a primary point of contact for a diverse client portfolio, you will lead on-site teams, review junior work, and maintain exceptional technical standards. This position is structured to give you high visibility across the practice, offering a clear, supported roadmap to full Audit Manager level.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist with imminent sign-off) with a minimum of 3–4+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience, with significant focus on external audit.

  Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in leading, planning, and executing audit engagements under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).

  
  


• 
  

  Supervision & Quality Control: Strong track record of supervising junior audit staff, conducting technical file reviews, providing on-the-job training, and providing constructive feedback.

  Client Engagement: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the commercial confidence to liaise with client finance directors and business owners throughout the audit lifecycle.

  
  

Package & Benefits

  Base Salary & Bonus: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualification status, aligned with Lancashire practice market rates), plus a performance-related bonus scheme.
