Are you an experienced CNC Miller or CNC Turner looking for a permanent, days-based position within a smaller, established precision engineering business?

We are recruiting for a skilled CNC Machinist to join a close-knit subcontract engineering team in the Scarborough area, producing precision components for customers across aerospace, oil & gas, pharmaceutical and specialist engineering sectors.

Due to the location of the site, you must hold a driving licence and have access to your own transport.

This is not a high-volume production environment. You will be joining a small, experienced workshop where varied machining work, quality and individual skill are valued.

The Role

Depending on whether your background is in milling or turning, you will be responsible for producing precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting and operating CNC milling or turning machinery


• Working accurately from engineering drawings and specifications


• Producing precision components to required tolerances


• Selecting and changing tooling


• Making machine adjustments and offset changes


• Working with Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls


• Carrying out dimensional and quality checks throughout the machining process


• Inspecting finished components against drawing requirements


• Supporting a varied subcontract workload across different components and industries


• Working closely with an experienced, hands-on workshop team

Depending on your experience, you may also work with Bridgeport machinery and Fusion CAD/CAM.

What Are We Looking For?

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced CNC Millers, CNC Turners, CNC Machinists and Toolmakers.

You should be time-served or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of practical CNC machining experience.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong CNC setting and operating experience


• Experience with Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls


• Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings


• Good knowledge of tooling and machining processes


• Experience producing precision components to tolerance


• Previous precision, subcontract or small-batch machining experience


• Toolmaking experience would be highly desirable


• Fusion or other CAD/CAM experience would be advantageous, but is not essential


• Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport due to the site location

Please note, this vacancy requires genuine hands-on CNC milling or turning experience. Candidates whose experience is solely within laser cutting, profiling or similar machine operating environments are unlikely to have the machining experience required.

Hours

This is a permanent day-shift position working 37.5 hours per week, including a half-day every Friday.

As a smaller engineering business, there is flexibility around start and finish times, provided contracted hours are completed and operational requirements are covered.

Overtime is available and paid at a premium rate, providing additional earning potential.

Salary

A competitive salary is available depending on experience, machining capability and technical background.
