Senior Commercial Property Lawyer

Location: Near York (hybrid)

Salary: £70,000 to £95,000 (depending on experience)

Experience: 5+ years’ PQE level

Our client is building something a bit different, delivering big-firm expertise with a boutique, human approach. They work with ambitious founders, SMEs and high-growth businesses, providing pragmatic legal support through fixed price projects and monthly subscriptions.

They are now looking for a Senior Commercial Property Lawyer to lead and grow their commercial property offering. This is a key hire for someone who wants real ownership, the chance to shape a service line, and the space to build long-term client relationships in a genuinely supportive, grown-up environment.

This role blends high-quality fee earning with strategy and growth. You will manage your own varied caseload, work closely with leadership on developing the commercial property proposition, and collaborate across the wider team to support corporate and commercial work.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Advising on a wide range of commercial property matters for SMEs, founder-led businesses and high-growth companies

• Managing your own caseload of landlord and tenant matters including negotiating leases, renewals, licences to alter, assignments, underleases, rent deposit deeds and related documentation

• Acting on acquisitions and disposals of commercial property, including due diligence, reviewing title documentation and negotiating transaction documents

• Advising on property aspects of corporate transactions, working closely with the corporate team on acquisitions, disposals, investments and restructures

• Providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice on property management issues including lease interpretation, dilapidations, service charge matters and day-to-day property queries

• Managing transactions from instruction through to completion, taking responsibility for client relationships, timetables and delivery of work

• Liaising directly with clients, landlords, tenants, agents, lenders and other professional advisers throughout transactions

• Building and developing long-term client relationships, becoming a trusted adviser as client businesses grow

• Working closely with colleagues across corporate, commercial, employment, IP and data protection to provide joined-up advice

• Playing a role in business development and contributing to market profile through networking, marketing initiatives, events and client education

• Strong experience handling a broad mix of commercial property matters

• Confidence running matters end-to-end and managing competing deadlines

• Commercial approach and strong client relationship skills

• Comfortable working collaboratively across teams and practice areas

• Interest in helping shape and grow a service line, including business development activity
