Employment Law Paralegal

Location: Near York (hybrid)

Salary: £25,000 to £32,000 (depending on experience)

Experience: Paralegal level

Our client is building something a bit different, delivering big-firm expertise with a boutique, human approach. They work with ambitious founders, SMEs and high-growth businesses, providing pragmatic legal support through fixed price projects and monthly subscriptions.

They are now looking for an ambitious Employment Paralegal to join the team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility within a supportive environment with ongoing training.

You will support the Employment team on a wide variety of matters, acting predominantly for employers across both contentious and non-contentious work. You will get hands-on exposure to advisory work, tribunal support, drafting, and employment elements of corporate transactions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the team on a broad range of employment law matters for employer clients

• Assisting with day-to-day advisory work including disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, sickness absence, redundancies, restructures and exits

• Supporting Employment Tribunal matters, including preparing bundles, drafting chronologies, witness statements, schedules of loss, instructions to counsel, and liaising with clients throughout the process

• Drafting and reviewing employment documentation including contracts, service agreements, staff handbooks, policies and settlement agreements

• Carrying out legal research and preparing practical, commercially focused summaries

• Liaising directly with clients and helping to manage matters from instruction through to completion under supervision

• Supporting corporate transactions through employment due diligence and assisting with employment aspects of acquisitions, disposals and investments

• Assisting with TUPE matters including business transfers, outsourcing arrangements and workforce reorganisations

• Building strong client relationships and becoming a trusted part of the wider advisory team

• Working closely with colleagues across corporate, commercial, IP, data protection and commercial property

• Supporting business development activity through events, marketing initiatives and client education

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in an employment law environment (paralegal or similar)

• Genuine interest in employment law and a proactive, can-do approach

• Strong drafting, written communication and attention to detail

• Confident with organisation and time management, able to prioritise competing tasks

• Comfortable working as part of a team and using your own initiative

• Strong IT skills
