Employment Lawyer

Location: Leeds City Centre (Hybrid working supported)

Salary: £60,000-£70,000 + Extensive Benefits

About the Role

As an Employment Lawyer, you'll manage a varied and intellectually stimulating caseload, advising employers across diverse sectors on complex employment law and business immigration matters. You'll work collaboratively within a team of ten highly skilled lawyers, handling both contentious and non-contentious work whilst building strong client relationships and contributing to the team's continued growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising on complex employment law matters for employers across multiple sectors including corporates, regional businesses, fast-growing SMEs, and high-net-worth individuals


• Managing contentious employment tribunal claims and litigation, including representation at hearings


• Providing strategic HR advice on disciplinary, grievance, and performance management issues


• Advising on TUPE, redundancy, and restructuring matters with a commercial, pragmatic approach


• Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements and employment contracts


• Handling discrimination, whistleblowing, and unfair dismissal claims


• Advising on business immigration matters to support clients with international workforce needs


• Building and maintaining strong internal and external client relationships


• Contributing to business development and team growth through networking and client engagement


• Working on high-value, strategic matters with early intervention to reduce risk and protect clients' interests

This role offers excellent variety, working with an impressive client base ranging from large corporates to ambitious SMEs, with genuine autonomy and support from senior lawyers.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with minimum 3 years' PQE in employment law (greater experience welcomed, including Senior Associate level)


• Strong experience representing employers in employment matters across diverse sectors


• Proven ability to manage contentious employment work and tribunal representation


• Excellent client relationship management skills with ability to provide pragmatic, commercial advice


• Commercially minded with ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities


• Motivated team player who works equally well autonomously and collaboratively


• Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to clients


• Adaptable to change with a proactive, solutions-focused approach

Desirable:

• Experience in business immigration matters


• Track record of business development or networking activities


• Experience advising large corporates and high-net-worth individuals


• Familiarity with employment law software and case management systems
