Family Solicitor (Legal Aid & Domestic Violence)

Salary: c.£55,000 – £75,000+ DOE/PQE

Experiencing sustained departmental growth, they are seeking a compassionate, technically robust Solicitor (5+ PQE) to manage a legal aid caseload, support fee-earner supervision, and help shape best practice across their expanding practice.

The Opportunity

In this key senior fee-earning position, you will take direct responsibility for delivering high-quality advice and representation to vulnerable clients, with a primary focus on legal aid domestic violence, non-molestation orders, occupation orders, and urgent protective injunctions.

Designed for an ambitious practitioner who values clinical standards and advocacy, this role offers high operational autonomy, direct involvement in supervising junior fee earners, and a structured pathway toward senior practice leadership and departmental development.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

• Qualifications & Panel Status: Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 5+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in family law. Law Society Family Law Panel Membership is essential to support LAA supervisor requirements.


• Legal Aid & Domestic Abuse Technicals: Specialist experience in legal aid funding frameworks, emergency injunctions, non-molestation proceedings, occupation applications, and complex public/private child arrangements involving domestic abuse.


• Supervision & Quality Assurance: Capacity and interest to assist with file reviews, day-to-day fee-earner guidance, Legal Aid Agency (LAA) compliance, and maintaining high technical standards across the team.


• Client Care & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional empathy, resilience, and clear communication when advising vulnerable individuals in crisis, combined with robust file management skills.


• Broader Expertise & Growth: Exposure to broader private family law matters is advantageous, alongside an interest in networking and business development for candidates seeking long-term progression.

Package & Working Structure

• Competitive Remuneration: £55,000 – £75,000 base salary per annum (commensurate with PQE, Panel status, and technical background) plus a lucrative performance-related bonus scheme.
