Production Shift Manager (Days and Nights)

Salary: £53,975

Location: Northamptonshire

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday (mixed days and nights)

The Opportunity

We are currently supporting a leading FMCG manufacturing organisation in the appointment of an experienced Production Shift Manager.

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient and effective production workflow within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will lead and develop a shift team, ensuring that materials are converted into finished products while consistently achieving high standards across safety, quality, productivity, cost, delivery and people performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production leader who enjoys working in a dynamic, highly structured environment and is passionate about developing people and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with legal, food safety, health & safety, environmental and people policies.


• Take ownership of shift and factory KPI performance, ensuring targets are achieved and sustained.


• Lead, coach and support your team to deliver operational objectives and maintain required standards.


• Oversee training and development to ensure the team has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience.


• Effectively allocate people and resources to achieve production plans and budgetary requirements.


• Monitor and report shift performance, ensuring timely delivery against the production plan.


• Lead and support improvement projects across the manufacturing operation.


• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.


• Drive individual and team performance through effective coaching, engagement and accountability.


• Act as a visible and influential leader, promoting high standards and positive team morale.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing and developing teams within an FMCG, food manufacturing or comparable high-volume manufacturing environment.


• Strong coaching, facilitation and people leadership skills.


• A track record of delivering against operational KPIs.


• Experience working with business improvement methodologies and continuous improvement tools.


• A strong understanding of manufacturing standards, processes and operational discipline.


• IOSH Managing Safely certification, or a willingness to obtain it.


• A curious and proactive approach, with a genuine interest in finding new and better ways of working.


• A commitment to keeping your technical and professional knowledge up to date.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).


• Level 3 Food Safety qualification.


• HACCP experience/qualification.
