Job Description - New Job Opening: Nursery Manager in The Old Station Nursery Mottershead Drive, Innsworth

Job Description

Nursery Manager – Level 3+

Up to £40,000 per year | 40 Hours per Week

This welcoming nursery has created a home-from-home atmosphere, with age-specific rooms designed around children's changing needs as they grow. For older children, there is a strong focus on school readiness, helping them develop the independence, confidence and social skills that will support a positive transition into their next stage.

Outdoor learning is equally important. The nursery uses its outdoor spaces as an extension of the learning environment – somewhere children can investigate, get active, take part in new experiences and enjoy plenty of everyday adventures.

We’re looking for a strong and experienced Nursery Manager who can bring confident leadership to the setting, maintain high standards and create a positive culture for children, families and the nursery team.

What We’re Looking For

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above

  • Proven Nursery Manager experience

  • A strong track record of successfully leading an Early Years setting

  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements

  • Confidence leading, motivating and developing a nursery team

  • Experience maintaining and driving high standards of care and education

  • Strong understanding of children's development across different age groups

  • Experience supporting effective school readiness and transitions

  • Confidence overseeing staffing, deployment, ratios and day-to-day operations

  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills

  • A visible, supportive and hands-on leadership style

What You’ll Receive

  • Salary up to £40,000

  • Discounted childcare

  • Christmas closure

  • Your birthday off

  • Pension scheme

  • Training and development opportunities

  • Long service awards

  • Wellbeing programme

Leading the Setting

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day running of the nursery

  • Lead, motivate and develop practitioners across each age group

  • Maintain consistently high standards of Early Years care and education

  • Ensure the EYFS is embedded effectively throughout the setting

  • Support practitioners to create nurturing, engaging and age-appropriate environments

  • Ensure older children are given meaningful opportunities to develop confidence, independence and school-readiness skills

  • Encourage teams to make creative use of the nursery's outdoor areas for learning, exploration and adventure

  • Oversee staffing, deployment, ratios and team performance

  • Maintain strong standards across safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory compliance

  • Build positive partnerships with parents and families

  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure high-quality practice remains consistent across the nursery

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
