Urgent: School Premises Manager – Primary School

Location: Limehouse, London E14 | Contract: Initial 3-month assignment, with potential to become permanent | Start: ASAP | Hours: 6:30am–2:30pm, Monday to Friday

We have an urgent requirement for an experienced School Premises Manager to join a School in Limehouse. The school has around 330 pupils and occupies a refurbished Victorian building, so we are looking for someone who can step in confidently, work independently and take control of the site with minimal handover.

The Role

• Take day-to-day responsibility for the school premises, grounds and facilities.


• Manage planned and reactive maintenance, coordinating and monitoring specialist contractors as required.


• Ensure statutory compliance across health and safety, fire safety, legionella, asbestos, PAT and other premises-related requirements.


• Maintain accurate compliance, maintenance and contractor records.


• Manage site security, including opening the school and locking up.


• Oversee and support cleaning and site staff to maintain high standards throughout the building.


• Carry out routine inspections, minor repairs and practical maintenance where appropriate.


• Respond promptly and calmly to urgent site issues, changing priorities and operational requirements.

About You

• Proven experience as a Facilities Manager, Premises Manager or Site Manager, ideally within a school or similar environment.


• An enhanced DBS for the child workforce, or willingness to obtain one immediately.


• Strong working knowledge of health and safety and statutory facilities compliance.


• Experience managing contractors and planned and reactive maintenance.


• The ability to manage and support cleaning or site staff.


• A reliable, organised and hands-on approach, with the confidence to work independently.


• Strong communication skills and a clear commitment to safeguarding.
