Food Safety Hygiene Technician
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
Location: West Midlands
Shift Pattern: 6am – 2pm and 2pm – 10pm (40 hours per week)

The Role
As a Food Safety Hygiene Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high standards of hygiene and sanitation in a food manufacturing facility. Working closely with the Quality team, you'll ensure production areas, equipment and manufacturing environments are maintained to the highest food safety standards using dry-cleaning techniques.
Your work will directly support food safety, environmental monitoring programmes, allergen control, microbiological performance and audit compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled hygiene and sanitation activities across production, packing and warehouse areas.
- Perform effective dry (waterless) cleaning to prevent contamination and maintain food safety standards.
- Clean production equipment, contact surfaces, floors, structures and manufacturing areas to defined hygiene standards.
- Remove product residues, allergen traces and contamination risks.
- Support environmental monitoring, hygiene verification and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with hygiene investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals in accordance with COSHH requirements.
- Complete hygiene documentation accurately, including cleaning records, pre-operational checks, allergen cleaning records and inspection documentation.
- Report hygiene issues and identify opportunities to improve cleaning effectiveness.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within food manufacturing hygiene, sanitation or industrial cleaning.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and contamination prevention.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and hygiene standards.
- Experience following detailed cleaning procedures and schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude with pride in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards.
Desirable Experience
Experience within any of the following would be advantageous:
- High-care food production
- BRCGS-certified manufacturing environments
- Allergen-controlled production facilities
- Dry-cleaning manufacturing environments
