Room Leader – Pre-Toddler Room

£32,200 per year | Level 3

The pre-toddler stage is full of change – first steps become confident movement, communication begins to flourish and curiosity seems to grow by the day.

This spacious, purpose-built nursery provides an exciting environment for children to develop through these important early milestones. Bright base rooms, large open-plan spaces and a fantastic garden give children the freedom to move, explore and discover, with excellent indoor and outdoor facilities supporting learning throughout the day.

As Pre-Toddler Room Leader, you’ll lead a nurturing room where children are beginning to become more independent, supporting your team to provide the consistency, encouragement and engaging experiences they need during this important transition.

What We’re Looking For

• A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above


• Previous experience within a nursery or Early Years setting


• Experience working with babies, pre-toddlers or younger children would be highly beneficial


• Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or similar leadership experience would be advantageous


• Strong understanding of the EYFS and early child development


• Confidence leading, supporting and motivating a room team


• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge


• Good communication skills with families and colleagues

Leading the Pre-Toddler Room

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of your room


• Lead and support practitioners to deliver consistently high-quality care


• Create experiences that encourage movement, communication, curiosity and growing independence


• Respond to children's individual routines, interests and developmental stages


• Observe children's progress and plan meaningful next steps


• Make full use of the nursery's open-plan rooms and outdoor spaces


• Support children as they develop confidence exploring their environment


• Create a calm, stimulating and age-appropriate room


• Build trusting relationships with parents and carers


• Guide and develop practitioners within your team


• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing
