New Job Opening: Shift Manager in Stirlingshire

Are you an experienced Production or Shift Manager who enjoys being visible on the factory floor, leading people and taking ownership of day-to-day manufacturing performance?

We’re recruiting for an established food manufacturing business in Stirlingshire that is looking to add an experienced Shift Manager to its production team.

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for the smooth running of a busy production area. You’ll lead the team throughout your shift, ensuring production plans are delivered safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards across quality, food safety and operational performance.

The role

Working closely with the Production Manager, you’ll take responsibility for production activities from raw materials through to finished product.

You’ll be expected to understand what is happening across your area, react quickly when production issues arise and make sure people and resources are being used effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, motivating and developing the production team across your shift


• Managing daily production activities against agreed plans and targets


• Monitoring performance through KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency


• Managing labour, rotas, holiday and absence to ensure appropriate shift coverage


• Controlling waste, packaging and finished goods


• Driving continuous improvement and supporting initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs


• Ensuring production areas remain audit-ready and compliant with food safety, quality and hygiene standards


• Supporting investigations and close-out of non-conformances


• Maintaining a safe working environment and promoting a strong health & safety culture


• Coaching and developing employees, conducting appraisals, return-to-work meetings and other people-management activities


• Working closely with Engineering, Technical and other departments to resolve operational issues

What we’re looking for

We’re particularly interested in speaking with candidates who already have experience leading people within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Food or drink manufacturing experience would be strongly preferred.

You’ll need to be comfortable balancing the demands of production with the equally important requirements around people, food safety, quality and health & safety.

Strong leadership and communication skills are important, as is the ability to organise a busy workload, solve problems and make decisions during the shift.

This could suit an established Shift Manager or Production Manager, or an experienced Production Supervisor/Team Leader who is already operating with significant responsibility and is ready to take the next step.
