Third in Charge

Up to £33,000 per annum | 40 Hours Per Week | Level 3 Early Years Qualification Required

We're looking for an experienced Third in Charge to join a thriving Good Ofsted-rated nursery where outdoor learning, child-led exploration, and high-quality early years education are at the heart of everyday practice.

Set within a charming building, the nursery offers a large outdoor garden, dedicated playground, and regular Forest School sessions that encourage children to build confidence, resilience, and a love of nature. The environment has been carefully designed to inspire curiosity and support children's development through meaningful play and hands-on learning experiences.

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Early Years qualification


• Previous experience as a Room Leader or above


• Experience working within a nursery or early years setting


• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework


• Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures


• Excellent communication and leadership skills


• A genuine enthusiasm for outdoor learning and Forest School practice

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery


• Lead by example and promote high standards of care and education across the setting


• Support and mentor practitioners to deliver outstanding practice


• Deliver engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework


• Support and participate in Forest School sessions and outdoor learning activities


• Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues


• Monitor children's development and support high-quality observations and assessments


• Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery standards are consistently maintained


• Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of senior management
