SEMH Teaching Assistant | Bromley

Do you want to work with children who need more than traditional classroom support? This SEMH Teaching Assistant opportunity in a Bromley primary school offers the chance to support pupils whose emotional, social or behavioural needs can affect their ability to engage with learning.

Working alongside class teachers, pastoral staff and the school's SEND team, you'll provide structured support throughout the school day. The role combines classroom assistance with emotional regulation, relationship-building and targeted intervention, making it particularly suitable for someone considering a future career in Educational Psychology, SEND teaching, Child Psychology or pastoral support.

You'll work with pupils at an important stage of their development, helping them develop the confidence and routines needed to participate successfully in school life.

Full Academic Year | £500–£550 per week

• Encouraging positive behaviour through consistent strategies


• Supporting pupils to re-engage with learning following periods of dysregulation


• Working with teachers to implement individual support plans


• Recording observations and contributing to pupil progress discussions

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will:

• Have experience working with children or young people


• Be patient, calm and consistent


• Understand the importance of positive relationships


• Have strong communication skills


• Be confident maintaining professional boundaries


• Demonstrate a genuine interest in SEMH and inclusive education
