Job introduction

The i Paper is looking for a Newsletter Editor to take ownership of the daily production of our newsletters – from editing and writing copy to scheduling and sending them.

This is a hands‑on role focused on delivering high‑quality newsletters every day. You’ll work closely with our Head of Newsletters to make sure each edition is accurate, engaging and aligned with our editorial priorities.

Your day‑to‑day will involve building newsletters, optimising subject lines, checking links and formatting and using analytics to make practical improvements. Prior experience using data to improve open rates, click‑throughs and engagement is preferred.

Newsletters remain one of the most impactful ways news organisations can deliver their news directly to readers. This role will help to ensure we grow and retain our digital subscribers while simultaneously reaching new audiences.

The right candidate must have strong news judgement, editing skills and experience collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, edit, format and send multiple newsletters on a daily/weekly schedule.


• Collaborate with reporters and editors to select, edit, and frame stories for each newsletter.


• Write and refine subject lines and preview text to maximise open rates.


• Use analytics to understand audience behaviour and make data-informed decisions that improve open rates, click-through rates and retention. You will regularly share these insights with desks.


• Ensure newsletters are free of errors, well‑formatted, and mobile‑friendly before sending.


• Share newsletter best practices across teams and desks.


• A/B test subject lines and adopt a data-informed approach to increase open rates, engagement and sign-ups.


• Work with the broader audience team to promote newsletters across platforms and grow our reach.

Skills and experience

At least 2 to 3 years producing, writing and editing newsletters. (Your previous experience with newsletters does not need to be for a newsroom, but you must be able to demonstrate strong news judgement.)

Strong editing skills with a keen eye for detail and reader‑focused presentation.

Experience using analytics to make newsletter decisions.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work across departments.

A clear passion for connecting readers with quality journalism via newsletters.
