Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £47,860 - £75,640 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Our team plays a pivotal role in protecting our country from radiological and nuclear threats by advising the government on national security issues, training police and military responders and developing technologies for rendering safe improvised nuclear devices. We are at the heart of efforts to keep our country safe from terrorism. 

As NTR Senior Special Projects Specialist you will be responsible for:

• Leading R&D and product development activities alongside external MoD customers. 
• Managing the product life cycle of hardware and technical solutions, from concept through to in-service support while adhering to AWE's design processes.
• Capturing customer requirements and generating comprehensive technical requirements.
• Arranging and holding technical reviews of electronic, mechanical and software-based systems in support of the NTR technical governance arrangements.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

• Experience in working in R&D environments.
• Experience in working with MoD customers.
• Electronic design experience (analogue, digital and RF)
• Experience in additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques
• PCB design (multi-layer boards)
• PCB population, covering through hole and SMD technologies.
• Inspection of assemblies in support of quality control processes
• Mechanical design
• Embedded software development
• Application development
• Test and evaluation (electrical performance, environmental and EMC)
• Reverse engineering of software, electrical assemblies, and mechanical hardware

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:

• Electronic design experience using Altium Designer
• Programming experience using C, C++, C#, Python & Java
• Mechanical design experience using Autodesk Inventor
• Hold a UK driving licence

You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
