The Role

We are working on behalf of a warm and welcoming nursery setting in Leicester and the surrounding areas to find a caring, enthusiastic Level 2+ Nursery Practitioner. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early years professional who is passionate about giving children the best possible start in life through high-quality care and learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare & Development

Provide high-quality care and support for children's individual needs, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children's learning and development
Support children's personal, social, emotional, and physical development in a safe and nurturing environment
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction among childrenObservation & Planning

Carry out regular observations and assessments to track children's progress against EYFS milestones
Contribute to individual learning journeys and next steps planning
Work with the room leader/manager to plan activities that reflect children's interests and developmental needsSafeguarding & Welfare

Uphold the setting's safeguarding policies at all times, promoting the welfare and wellbeing of every child
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised environment in line with health and safety requirements
Report any safeguarding concerns promptly through the correct channelsCollaboration & Communication

Work collaboratively with fellow practitioners, room leaders, and management
Build positive, professional relationships with parents/carers, sharing updates on their child's progress
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and CPD opportunities to develop professional practice

Requirements

Essential

Level 2 (or above) qualification in Early Years/Childcare (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent)
Experience working in a nursery or early years setting
Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development
A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
Eligibility to work in the UKDesirable

Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare
Paediatric First Aid certificate
Experience working with babies, toddlers, or pre-school age groups
Experience supporting children with SEND in an early years setting
