Nursery Teaching Assistant – Reed in Partnership with a Trust

Location: St Austell

Contract Type: Permanent

Contract Term: Part-Time

Salary: £8,058.00 per annum (Actual)

Start Date: 1st September 2025

Reed Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a dedicated and inclusive trust to recruit a Nursery Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and enthusiastic individual to support the educational, social, and physical development of young children in a nurturing school environment in St Austell.

About the Role:

As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will play a proactive role in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help organise classroom activities, assist with small group work, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support individuals and small groups of children in developing knowledge, skills, and attitudes in line with the curriculum.
  • Build supportive relationships with pupils and encourage inclusion and social integration.
  • Promote pupils’ self-esteem and personal development.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining teaching resources and classroom displays.
  • Supervise pupils during lunch and break times on a rota basis.
  • Accompany pupils on educational visits and outings.
  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, and report concerns to the teacher or SENDCO.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to pupils and school operations.
  • Provide minor first aid (as trained) and assist with personal care needs where required.
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to classroom support.
General Responsibilities:
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies and procedures.
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and the values of the trust at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
  • A positive, patient, and flexible approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

This role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including references, medical screening, proof of eligibility to work in the UK, and an enhanced DBS check.
