Occupational Therapist - Specialist SEN/SEMH School

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEN school in West London for a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to work within a specialist educational environment.

The Role

You will play an important role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to access education and everyday life.

Working closely with teaching staff, the SEND team, families and other professionals, you will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, intervention and advice.

The role would particularly suit an OT with experience working with young people with SEMH and complex SEN needs.

Key Responsibilities

Assess pupils' individual occupational therapy needs.
Develop and deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Support pupils with sensory processing, emotional regulation and functional skills.
Provide practical strategies to help pupils access learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and the wider SEND team.
Contribute to EHCP assessments, reviews and outcomes.
Provide advice and training to school staff where appropriate.
Monitor and evaluate pupils' progress.
Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
Promote independence and positive outcomes for pupils.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate must:

Be a fully qualified Occupational Therapist - essential.
Have experience working with children or young people.
Have previous experience working within an SEN school or specialist educational setting - essential.
Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs - essential.
Have a strong understanding of sensory processing and emotional regulation.
Be confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be patient, adaptable and passionate about working with young people with additional needs.This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified OT to become an integral part of a specialist school environment and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.
