We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at this Alternative Provision based in Lancashire. This is an exciting chance to work with students who may have complex needs, supporting their functional skills, sensory processing, and overall well-being to enable greater engagement in learning and life.

About the Role:

As our Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing and addressing the occupational performance needs of our students. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to understand students' sensory processing profiles, fine and gross motor skills, self-care abilities, and functional skills relevant to their educational engagement and daily living.
• Developing and implementing individualised and group-based intervention plans to address identified needs and promote independence in areas such as handwriting, organisation, sensory regulation, self-care tasks, and participation in classroom activities.
• Providing direct therapy interventions to students, utilising a range of evidence-based strategies and adaptive equipment.
• Providing consultation and training to school staff on understanding sensory processing differences, adapting tasks and the environment to promote participation, and supporting the development of students' functional skills.
• Contributing to the development and review of the Alternative Provision's policies and practices related to sensory needs, accessibility, and promoting student independence.
• Working with parents/carers to provide strategies and support to generalise skills learned in school to the home environment.
• Contributing to multi-agency working to ensure a holistic approach to meeting students' needs.
• Engaging in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in occupational therapy and the specific needs of alternative provision settings.

What We Are Looking For:

• A BSc (Hons) or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience of working with children and young people with a range of complex needs, including sensory processing difficulties, developmental delays, and SEMH needs. Experience in alternative provision settings is desirable.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills in paediatric occupational therapy.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
• A strong understanding of sensory integration theory and practice.
• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to a student-centred approach and a belief in the potential of all young people to develop their functional skills and independence.
• A valid driving license and access to a vehicle may be required for travel within Lancashire.
