About the Role - Operations and Security Manager

Right Now Group are recruiting for a highly skilled and experienced Operations and Security Manager to join a large-scale ground handling operation at Heathrow Airport. This pivotal role requires a dynamic leader with a strong operational background and deep expertise in cargo security compliance within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

As Operations and Security Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of cargo operations, ensuring seamless cargo flow while maintaining the highest standards of security and regulatory compliance. You will lead a dedicated team, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement, and liaise closely with multiple stakeholders including regulatory bodies, customs, airlines, and logistics partners.

Key Responsibilities - Operations and Security Manager

• Lead and manage all aspects of daily cargo operations at a large ground handling facility, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust security protocols in line with UK and international aviation security standards, including CAA and Border Force requirements.
• Drive continuous operational improvements and innovation to optimise cargo handling workflows and security measures.
• Manage and mentor a diverse team of operational and security staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance.
• Liaise with customs officials, freight forwarders, airline partners, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely clearance and compliance of cargo shipments.
• Conduct regular security risk assessments, audits, and training sessions to uphold stringent security controls and maintain operational readiness.
• Lead incident investigations and coordinate responses to security breaches or operational disruptions, ensuring thorough documentation and resolution.
• Monitor performance metrics, prepare detailed reports, and provide strategic insights to senior management to support decision-making.
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment at all times.

Candidate Requirements - Operations and Security Manager

• Significant experience in operations and security management within a large-scale air cargo ground handling environment, preferably at a major airport such as Heathrow.
• In-depth knowledge of cargo security legislation, aviation security protocols, and customs processes applicable to air, sea, and land cargo operations.
• Proven track record of successfully managing operational teams in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and inspire staff at all levels.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret operational data and implement effective solutions.
• Resilient, proactive, and detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and operational excellence.

What's On Offer - Operations and Security Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000 per annum

Shift: Monday to Friday (flexible hours depending on operational needs)

Hours: 40 hours per week (standard business hours with occasional overtime)
