Operations Director

FRS are recruiting an Operations Director for a large manufacturing business based in Derbyshire. This is a senior leadership role working directly with the MD and SLT.

As Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end manufacturing operations across multiple departments, ensuring that production, supply chain, health & safety, and continuous improvement objectives are met. This is a key strategic role with direct influence on the business's performance, culture, and long-term growth trajectory.

You will drive operational efficiencies, embed a high-performance culture, and lead a team of senior operational managers. You will also play a critical role in shaping and delivering the business strategy in close collaboration with other SLT members

Duties Will Include

• Lead and manage all aspects of operational activity across manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, and engineering
• Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, cost control, and quality
• Ensure operational alignment with company-wide strategic objectives
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or other methodologies
• Oversee capacity planning, forecasting and resource allocation
• Foster a strong health & safety culture and ensure full compliance with all regulatory standards
• Collaborate with finance, HR, commercial, and technical functions to ensure cross-functional alignment
• Lead, coach, and develop the operations team to build strong leadership and succession pipelines
• Play an active role in budgeting, capital investment decisions, and operational risk management
• Represent operations in SLT discussions, board meetings and key stakeholder engagements
