An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a well-established organisation specialising in electroplating and powder coating, supplying high-quality surface treatment solutions to both internal manufacturing operations and external customers.
Our client is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of their Plating & Powder Coating Plant.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective running of the facility, delivering exceptional standards across quality, delivery, productivity, environmental compliance and health & safety.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader with a strong technical understanding of electroplating or closely related surface treatment processes to play a key role within a growing engineering business. You'll lead operational performance across the site, drive continuous improvement initiatives and develop a high-performing team whilst ensuring production schedules are achieved and customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
Skills & Experience Needed:
* Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Senior Production Leader within a metal finishing environment
* Strong technical knowledge of electroplating is essential (experience within plating, metal finishing or closely related surface treatment processes will also be considered)
* Experience managing plating and/or powder coating operations within a regulated manufacturing environment
* Proven leadership experience managing production teams, supervisors and shop floor personnel
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, risk assessments and environmental compliance
* Experience managing chemical processes, waste management and environmental permits
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or similar quality management systems
* Demonstrable success implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
* Experience improving productivity, quality, delivery performance and operational efficiency
* Strong problem-solving skills with experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
* Experience working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Planning and Quality functions
* Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
* Engineering or technical background would be advantageous
