Job Description - Operations Manager

Norit has a rich history of over 100 years in innovating and developing activated carbon solutions for a wide range of applications including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, biogas, chemicals, water, automotive and others. We are dedicated to providing cleaner and safer production environments for companies, municipalities, and end-users worldwide. With production facilities in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA and GBS in Riga, Norit is a leading global supplier of activated carbon solutions.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead our plant operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient delivery of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards, quality, production, packaging, warehousing, and logistics. The ideal candidate will actively promote Norit’s vision and values and ensure compliance with all local and global standards, regulations, and procedures.

As an operations manager, your daily tasks will include:
Ensuring compliance with all statutory legislation, SHE, regulatory standards, quality standards (ISO 9001, HACCP, Halal and Kosher certification),
Take on responsibility for reliable and predictable operations to ensure delivery of OEE excellence. Reducing process variability and improve consistency,
Supporting the transfer of manufacturing technology and systems to and from other sites,
Defining long-term capital needs and support the development of capital budgets, plans, and definition scope,
Taking ownership for the development of site KPIs and the delivery of manufacturing excellence,
Working with the maintenance managers ensuring that maintenance schemes and operational activities are defined and executed,
Managing and improving fixed and variable costs,
Overseeing performance and career development of all direct reports through coaching, regular feedback & development sessions on a one-to-one basis,
Taking on the responsibility as a member of the site leadership team.

What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering,
Minimum of six years of manufacturing experience in the chemical industry, including three years in a managerial role,
Knowledge of process safety and environmental management.
Strong people leadership and management skills,
Effective team player.
Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing and production technology,
Financial acumen,
Strong analytical skills.
