Part-Time Optometrist – Independent Practice Group

Location: Glasgow 
Working pattern: 2–3 days per week
Salary: £37,000–£50,000 depending on experience and agreed hours

BlackSquare is recruiting a GOC-registered Optometrist for a growing independent optical practice group in the Glasgow region.

The role involves working across two established community practices, typically for two or three days each week. The working pattern can be discussed and tailored around the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Optometrist who wants to deliver high-quality clinical care without unrealistic commercial targets or a high-volume testing environment.

The Role

You will provide comprehensive eye examinations and personalised clinical advice while building long-term relationships with patients in the local community.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough eye examinations


• Identifying and managing changes in ocular health


• Providing clear and appropriate clinical recommendations


• Advising patients on eye health and preventative care


• Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records


• Working closely with experienced dispensing and support colleagues


• Using modern diagnostic and testing equipment


• Supporting a smooth and professional patient journey


• Maintaining GOC standards and completing relevant CPD


• Travelling between two practices within the Glasgow region

Generous appointment times are provided, allowing you to focus on patient care rather than volume or sales targets.

About You

You will need:

• Current GOC registration as a qualified Optometrist


• A recognised Optometry degree or equivalent qualification


• Strong clinical and communication skills


• A friendly, professional and patient-focused approach


• The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team


• A commitment to clinical excellence and continued professional development


• The flexibility to work across two local practice locations

Previous independent-practice experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
