We are looking for an experienced Lead OT Cyber Security Engineer to take technical ownership of OT cybersecurity delivery across our automation and systems integration projects.
This is a hands-on role where you'll combine your knowledge of industrial automation, OT networks and cybersecurity to help deliver secure solutions for clients across a range of industrial sectors.
Job responsibilities:
Lead the technical delivery of OT cybersecurity within automation projects, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, servers and industrial networks. Design and implement secure OT network solutions, including managed L2/L3 switches, firewalls and network monitoring. Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, including risk assessments, asset lists, network diagrams and device configuration standards. Apply cybersecurity standards and best practice, particularly IEC 62443, NIS and relevant UK guidance. Support vulnerability, patch management, device hardening and threat management activities. Design and implement cybersecurity technologies including IDS/IPS, endpoint security and other OT security solutions. Work with Project Managers to manage cybersecurity scope, risks, issues and technical delivery. Support testing, commissioning and client handover of cybersecurity solutions. Provide technical input into bids, proposals and wider automation projects. Keep up to date with developments in OT cybersecurity, standards and regulations and contribute to continuous improvement across the business. Skillset:
A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, Cybersecurity or a related discipline. Experience delivering cybersecurity solutions within an Operational Technology / industrial automation environment. Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, drives and telemetry. Experience with industrial networking, TCP/IP, managed switches and firewalls. Experience of cybersecurity technologies such as network monitoring, IDS/IPS, endpoint security and vulnerability management. Practical understanding of the IEC 62443 family of standards and defence-in-depth principles. Experience taking projects through the full lifecycle, from specification and design through to testing and on-site commissioning. Experience with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, AVEVA or Ignition would be advantageous. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Windows security within an OT environment. Experience with VMware ESXi and industrial communication protocols would be beneficial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders. A structured, adaptable approach with a genuine interest in developing your OT cybersecurity expertise. Relevant cybersecurity or engineering certifications are desirable, such as: IEC 62443 / ISA GICSP CISSP Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
