An established, family-run garden centre is looking for an Outdoor Plants Supervisor to take ownership of its outdoor plant area and support the wider team at its Christchurch site.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong plant knowledge who enjoys working outdoors, advising customers and maintaining high horticultural standards. You'll play a key role in ensuring plants are healthy, well-presented and that customers receive expert advice and inspiration for their gardens.
The role would suit an experienced Plant Area Assistant, Supervisor or horticultural professional looking to take the next step in their career within a successful garden retail environment, with the opportunity to develop into more senior roles.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
Taking ownership of the outdoor plant area, maintaining excellent standards of plant health and presentation. Providing expert customer advice on plant selection, care and aftercare. Creating attractive seasonal displays to support sales. Supporting and guiding the plant team, acting as deputy to the Department Manager when required. Managing plant deliveries, stock levels, rotation and general department standards. Supporting ordering and wider department responsibilities as your knowledge develops. Stepping into Duty Manager and Key Holder responsibilities when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Has strong outdoor plant knowledge and a genuine passion for horticulture. Has experience working within a garden centre, nursery or horticultural retail environment. Is confident advising customers and sharing plant knowledge. Takes pride in plant quality, presentation and customer experience. Has supervisory experience or is ready to take the next step. Is reliable, hands-on and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
Working Hours
Permanent, full-time position. 39 hours per week. Alternate weekend working required.
